Benjamin S. Thompson

President and Chief Investment Officer

Ben Thompson serves as President and Chief Investment Officer of Delegate Advisors. In this role, Ben focuses on strengthening existing processes and systems and innovating new best practices to enhance Delegate’s client experience, while playing a leadership role in Delegate’s investment offering.

Ben brings Delegate his industry experience shaped through portfolio management roles in the asset management units of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, the co-founding and leadership of boutique manager Samson Capital Advisors, and ultimately the leadership of the US asset management division of Fiera Capital, a multi-asset manager headquartered in Canada.  His experience includes institutional and private clients, having worked with ultra-high net worth families for years during his career.

Prior to his role at Delegate, Ben led the U.S. Division of Fiera Capital Corporation, a global asset management firm offering traditional and alternative investment solutions to clients across North America, Europe, and Asia. Ben sat on the Board of Directors of Fiera Capital Inc. and Fiera U.S. Holdings. He also served as President of the Fiera Capital Mutual Fund Series Trust since its creation in 2017. In addition to his U.S. Division responsibilities, Ben was a member of the Global Executive Management Committee and the Strategic Development Committee.

Ben completed a four-year term on the Board of Directors of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board in 2014 and served as a member of the MSRB’s Investor Advisory Group in 2015 and 2016. During his Board term, Ben chaired the Nominating and Governance Committee for one year and served on the Steering Committee for three years. The MSRB was established by Congress in 1975 to protect investors and the public interest by promoting a fair and efficient municipal securities market. Ben has appeared on CNBC and Wall Street Week and has been a regular commenter on industry and market subjects in the financial press.

Ben received a B.A. in economics from Colorado College.
